65 million years ago, the dinosaurs became extinct due to an asteroid impact. The sky darkened, the sunlight no longer reached the ground and all life dried up.
Such events happen again and again in the cosmos. The smaller cosmic satellites burn up in the atmosphere, while the larger chunks from the so-called "Oort Cloud" behind the planetoid Pluto are usually caught by Jupiter's gravity.
Few penetrate as far as the inner planets.
IF one does reach Earth, the Galactic Federation and the Ashtar Command save us with their spaceships, which shoot the asteroids with lasers so that they can burn up.
